Born in ala mhigo ten years before the city's fall, catelyn is the daughter to alaric mallister, armor-and-weaponsmith, and judda stormsinger, a shaman of gyr abania. the family fled ala mhigo shortly before the garlean occupation, and traveled west through gridania and the twelveswood before settling in a small hamlet near Ishgard in the highlands of coerthas.
a former member of the order of the knights dragoon, catelyn spent her formative years in coerthas and later in ishgard proper before leaving the service. she traveled eastward on the path her family once trod and arrived in gyr abania for the first time in twenty years the day Baelsar's Wall fell. she joined the ala mhigan resistance and served as a soldier for their forces, later aiding in the liberation of the city of her birth. upon learning of the restoration of the fist of rhalgr, she became part of the order as a novitiate.

Countrymen: Catelyn and her parents fled Ala Mhigo shortly before the fall of the city, and she grew up in a small hamlet in Coerthas near Ishgard. Her return to Gyr Abania and Ala Mhigo via the Resistance has led her to seek out countrymen and establish contact with the people she felt she left behind.
Ishgardian military (former): Catelyn served with the Temple Knights and later was ordained a member of the Knights Dragoon. She left shortly before the end of the Dragonsong War after Ser Aymeric went public with the truth about the War’s origins. former comrades and friends are a common sight after ishgard rejoined the eorzean alliance.
the fist of rhalgr: Upon leaving Ishgard, she sought out the Fist and became a student of the re-established order under Rhuli'a Kanjun.

appearance: though she is short for a highlander, catelyn's physical presence makes up for the lack of height. she wears her wheat-blonde hair in a plaited hairstyle typical of gyr abania, and bears markings on her face in red paint, styled after the fashion of King Anshelm Cotter's queen Bethe. she is in prime physical condition with corded muscle lining a lean frame, her calf and thigh muscles in particularly fine form.
voice & diction: her accent is noticeably peculiar, its ala mhigan roots marred by ishgardian inflections and pronunciations and spoken in a moderate contralto. time among her own people, however, has brought back the flat vowels and elided consonants typical to ala mhigan citizens.
mannerisms & demeanor: catelyn carries herself like a fighter, head held high. she is confident and unafraid of regular eye contact, even with unfamiliar faces, and is prone to easy grins and laughter. she is a physical person, one who clasps shoulders and touches hands with ease. her expressive face and body often give away her true feelings on a given topic or subject.
scent: her propensity for purchasing incense with spicy scents like cardamom and cinnamon and burning it in her quarters at the temple lead to it clinging to her hair more often than not.
